Game Builder Garage and Mario Golf lead Japanese software sales for June

Famistu sales data has Nintendo Switch accounting for 71% of software and 77% of hardware sold

Nintendo Switch's newest titles Game Builder Garage and Mario Golf: Super Rush led Japan's top software sales chart for the month of June, according to Famistu sales data.

Game Builder Garage led software with an estimated 126,008 units sold. The next best-selling game was Mario Golf: Super Rush at 80,430 units for the month.

Nintendo Switch games made up 11 of the top 12 and 15 of the top 20 games sold in Japan last month.

While Nintendo still dominates the software sales charts, its market share has been slipping. In June, 74% of software sold was for the Switch, but that was the lowest share the console had of any month this year.

The Nintendo Switch led hardware sales for the month of June with over 1 million units sold. Between Switch and Switch Lite the console accounted for 77% of hardware sold during the month.

The PlayStation 4 followed as the second best-selling console at 266,080 units sold.

Looking ahead, July's most anticipated releases include Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin and eBaseball Pro Yakyu Spirits 2021: Grand Slam.
