Ziff Davis considers dropping print version of EGM

US publisher Ziff Davis is considering cancelling the print edition of long running games magazine Electronic Gaming Monthly.

The company has decided to can the print edition of its 18 year-old PC Magazine, but will not make a decision on EGM until the end of the year, according to the New York Times.

Production costs and a fall in advertising are to blame for the cancellation of PC Magazine, as it now becomes an online only publication.

"The viability for us to continue to publish in print just isn't there anymore," commented Jason Young, chief executive of Ziff Davis.
