Telltale CEO stepping down

Kevin Bruner is handing responsibilities back to co-founder Dan Connors

Telltale Games, the studio known for its narrative-rich adventures based on IP like The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, and Minecraft, is going through an executive shuffle. As Kotaku first reported, Kevin Bruner sent an internal email to announce that he's stepping down from the CEO role and handing the reins back to co-founder Dan Connors who served as CEO until 2015.

"Today I am writing to let you know that I'll be stepping away from my position as CEO of Telltale," Bruner wrote to his staff this week. "We've grown aggressively since Telltale's inception, and now Telltale is bigger than I ever dreamed it would be. There are many possible futures for Telltale, and all of them are exciting and uniquely challenging. The time has come to pass the reins to someone that can better drive Telltale to the next level and realize all the potential that is here."

Bruner, who helped co-found the company, will stay on the board of directors during the transition. Telltale head of communications Job Stauffer added: "Kevin has led Telltale over the past couple of years after he stepped into the CEO role for co-founder Dan Connors in 2015. With Kevin departing, Telltale is fortunate to have Dan here to step back seamlessly into the CEO role."

Telltale is currently getting ready to launch Guardians of the Galaxy: A Telltale Games Series, based on the Marvel comics and films. The studio also plans to make a second season of its Game of Thrones series.
