Microsoft bringing Internet Explorer to Xbox 360

Robust web browsing is being tested with full Kinect support

Microsoft is testing an Xbox 360 version of Internet Explorer that includes full Kinect support, according to a report by The Verge. While Sony's PlayStation 3 has had a full web browser for quite a while now, Microsoft was reluctant to bring the same experience to Xbox 360. Bing voice search only debuted on the console in December of 2011.

Internet Explorer 360 will include integrated Kinect gestures and voice control, but the peripheral will not be necessary to use the browser. No word on a launch date was given, but like all reports coming across our desks, you can probably expect to hear more come E3.

Depends how you define "full web browser". The PS3 browser isn't great and doesn't get updated very often. I generally use my Android phone's web browser if I need to look something up about a game (for example), rather than the PS3 one.

PS3 browser *shudder*

I tend to stick to my laptop or iPad thats next to me while gaming if I want to browse the web. Faster, easier and it leaves the console free to play games instead.

I'm in mixed thoughts about it getting a browser.
a) Doesn't make sense to add it now and is just something else cluttering the advert heavy Dashboard.
b) It will shut up those that go on about how it needs a web browser for all these years.
