PlayStation Orbis "has the jump" on next Xbox - rumor

I honestly feel that one of the reasons Microsoft was so successful with the Xbox 360 was because they were the earlier movers. Adapting trend setters and individuals who are very involved with their purchase allowed Microsoft to gain the benefit of the, "I'm going to buy what my friend has" consumer. One could also argue price, unique IPs and the like, but when you ask a current heavy user why they chose one platform over another, I'm sure social standings amongst friends will play a key part. With that in mind, I think Sony is making a rather intelligent move here, provided the technological leap from the PS3 to the PS4 is sizable enough to motivate consumers to buy. Just my opinion though, clearly I'm no industry analyst.

Well, the funny thing is, people (including media) where complaining about the high price of the PS3, but even with 1 to 1.5 (europe) years releasing after the xbox-360, they are at the same ammount of units sold now, which is a great feat if you think about it, with a higher price as the xbox 360 and still beating them.. Both consoles are great consoles, both have their pro's and con's, and that'll be the same with the next generation, although I think the difference will be much smaller due to the costs of creating new games (even more detail means higher costs) and therefore I think we will see less exclusives, which IMHO is not a bad thing..

MS only gained a 5.5 million lead of the PS3 during that free year. So launching first didn't help with the consumer side too much. But it did help with the dev/publisher side as a year lead behind the scenes is huge.

I hope they are at least 6 month apart, don`t want to buy 2 consoles at the same time.

I'm glad to hear this as this Gen I found Sony a more plesent console to own.Everthing on the 360 cost more money once you owned the console, Xboxlive,special hard drives,battery packs for contollers, data tranfer cable and I even needed a special cable to plug my xbox into my HDMI TV and my stereo at the same time.
And thats not even counting the two times my 360 broke down.If the next xbox came out a year earlier I would be to tempeted to get one.
Since I have no interest in MS exclusives like Halo,Fable and gears I could quite happily skip the next xbox.
