Warner Bros. to distribute Codemasters titles in US
From April '07 and to include DIRT, Jericho and Turning Point titles
Warner Bros. continues to solidify its presence in the videogame sector, with the announcement it will be handling distribution duties in the US for British publisher Codemasters.
The announcement comes days after Warner Bros. bought a ten per cent stake in rival UK publisher SCi Entertainment.
"This partnership allows the Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group divisions to combine strengths to distribute Codemasters' games, which have global appeal, throughout North America," said Kevin Tsujihara, president of Warner Bros.
"Employing the expertise of our gaming division and our powerful home video distribution services, we will bring Codemasters' products to consumers within the ever-growing gaming marketplace," he added.
Warner Bros. will begin distribution, sales and trade marketing from April, for a portfolio of titles including DIRT: Colin McRae Offroad, Overlord, Clive Barker's Jericho and Turning Point: Fall of Liberty.
"We greet this arrangement to work with Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group with great enthusiasm," offered Rod Cousens, CEO of Codemasters.
"Codemasters continues to strengthen its content and distribution, and as the reach of our products portfolio broadens to a global audience, there can be no more effective alliance than to have the world's largest entertainment corporation handling the line in the single largest market," added Cousens.
