SilverBirch acquires Lighthouse Interactive for CAD 4m

Canadian developer SilverBirch is to acquire Dutch games publisher Lighthouse Interactive.

The developer of N+ will acquire all outstanding shares for CAD 4 million (USD 3.9m / EUR 2.5m) – CAD 1.25 million in cash, a CAD 400,000 vendor note and CAD 3.85 million of common shares.

"The strategic significance of expanding into publishing can't be over emphasised," commented Derek van der Plaat, SilverBirch CEO.

"Being a developer and a publisher will allow us to further diversify our revenue streams and capture a greater proportion of the video game industry value chain."

Lighthouse Interactive publishes mainly RPG, strategy and simulation titles for the PC, while Lighthouse is working on N+ for handhelds and operates MMO Metin 2.

"The synergies between our two companies made the decision to become part of SilverBirch an easy one for us,” added Steve Wall, executive VP and co-founder of Lighthouse Interactive.

"This deal will help Lighthouse to further develop our business and access vertical market opportunities as we continue to expand the Lighthouse brand."
