No threat from digital distribution, says GameStop

COO of US retailer Dan DeMatteo has said that he sees no immediate threat from the growing market for digital distribution of games on home consoles.

Sony is to introduce a new PS3 complete with significantly larger 160GB hard-drive in October, and Microsoft has already released a 120GB unit with its Elite Xbox 360.

"We don't expect full distribution of new games to be a threat due to game size," said DeMatteo following the company's latest financial results, reports Gamasutra.

DeMatteo is happy with Sony's new PS3 model being designed to act as an entertainment media hub for the home, with the increased hard-drive not just for games but also movies and music.
