Japanese publisher Koei has announced the formation of a new development studio in Singapore, which plans to recruit 100 new staff in the coming months and will be tasked with bringing the popular Romance of the Three Kingdoms series online.

Koei Entertainment Singapore, as the studio will be called, will be the company's largest studio outside Japan. Its establishment comes two years after Koei launched a development training course in Singapore in association with the Singaporean government, and the firm hopes to recruit many of its staff from that course.

The studio's first product will be Romance of the Three Kingdoms Online (known as Sangokushi Online), which will be launched worldwide in 2007, with the company hoping to attract half a million subscribers to the game within the first year of operation.
