Google joins investors in Chinese game streaming platform

Chushou has now raised $120 million, Google wants to push it to "more people around the world"

Google has joined the series D round for Chushou, a Chinese live-streaming platform that has now raised a reported $120 million in funding in less than three years.

Both the size of this round and the size of Google's investment were not disclosed as part of the announcement, but Techcrunch highlighted that it had raised $78 million prior to the series D. Other contributors to the round included returning investors Qiming Venture, Shunwei Capital and Alpha X Capital.

Chushou has a community of more than eight million unique streamers on its mobile platform, with an average of 250,000 streaming each day - the majority of them focused on esports and gaming. It has amassed more than 90 million registered viewers.

"Chushou has built an impressive platform, with a dedicated and quickly growing base of content creators and consumers, and smart expansion plans," said Frank Lin, Google's principal of corporate development for north Asia, in a statement.

"We're excited to be supporting Chushou through this investment to help them execute those plans, bringing great mobile gaming content to more people around the world."
