Apple reveals management shakeup

Apple's iOS and retail leaders leaving company

Apple has announced a number of changes to its management, including the upcoming departures of two executives. Senior vice president of retail John Browett is leaving the company immediately, while senior vice president of iOS Scott Forstall will be leaving in 2013. Forstall will remain as an advisor to Apple CEO Tim Cook in the meantime.

"We are in one of the most prolific periods of innovation and new products in Apple's history," said Cook. "The amazing products that we've introduced in September and October, iPhone 5, iOS 6, iPad mini, iPad, iMac, MacBook Pro, iPod touch, iPod nano and many of our applications, could only have been created at Apple and are the direct result of our relentless focus on tightly integrating world-class hardware, software and services."

Apple design guru Jony Ive will take over the direction of Apple's Human Interface company-wide. SVP of internet software and services Eddy Cue will add Siri and Maps to his responsibilities. Apple SVP of Mac software Craig Federighi will now lead both iOS and OS X. Senior vice president Bob Mansfield will lead Apple's new Technologies group, combining all of Apple's wireless and semiconductor team under one group. An additional email from Cook to employees revealed that Mansfield will be leaving the company in two years time.

"I am thrilled to tell you that Bob will remain with Apple for an additional two years. Bob has led some of our most challenging engineering projects for many years," said Cook in the email obtained by 9to5mac.

Third-person action-adventure games are his personal poison: Uncharted, Infamous, and Assassin's Creed just to name a few. If you see him around a convention, he's not hard to spot: Black guy, glasses, and a tie.
