Core gameplay designer staying at studio, team will continue balancing work

Battlefield 3's core gameplay designer Alan Kertz is leaving the team working on balancing issues for the game, moving on to another project within DICE.

Kertz was not ready to reveal what the new project will be, but ensured fans that work will continue on the balancing and polish of the FPS.

"Moving on from BF3, leaving the gameplay in the very capable hands of @gustavhalling and @stormonster," Kertz announced in a Tweet, adding later, "And no, I'm not leaving DICE. Just departing from the team that's still diligently working on BF3."

It is disappointing to see him moving on already. Although I'm sure his next project at DICE will be interesting, Alan "Demize99" Kertz is a true innovator in organic gameplay design. He actively engages the community in determining gameplay adjustments, balancing changes etc. He understands the social arena that is "The Internet(z)" and doesn't fear "Counter-Trolling". Alan's Twitter is hilarious to read, and engage on.

I liked Mirrors Edge, I hope they make a new one, they should do a more Assassins Creed style to it, with a open world city map, and you run around exploring the rooftops and such.

BF3 is a brilliant game, can he fix the private server problems with Xbox and PS3 before he moves though!
