Square Enix has published a new financial report which reveals a 14 per cent rise in profits for the company, up from YEN 14.93 billion (EURO 103.8 million) last year to YEN 17.08 billion (EURO 117.6 million).

Group sales also saw an increase, up to YEN 124.47 billion (EURO 1.18 billion) from YEN 73.86 billion - a rise of more than 68 per cent. Squenix attributed this to the acquisition of Taito and successful sales of Final Fantasy XII.

But despite the increases, Squenix's operating profit was down more than 40 per cent to YEN 15.47 billion (EURO 107.5 million). The drop was blamed on marketing and salary costs.

Squenix forecasts a 21 per cent rise in sales to YEN 150 billion (EURO 1.01 billion) over the next year, while group net profit is expected to drop to YEN 11 billion (EURO 770,000).
