Monster Hunter helps boost Capcom profits

Monster Hunter Tri and Resident Evil 5 have helped Capcom's profits rise 58.4 per cent to JPY 2.9 billion.

For the six months ended September 30, sales were up 24.5 per cent, to JPY 38.8 billion, with over a million Monster Hunter Tri sales, and the continued strong performance of Monster Hunter Freedom Unite for the PSP.

Overseas sales were slow, said Capcom, due to the delayed release of Dark Void, and poor sales of Monster Hunter Freedom Unite and Bionic Commando. Resident Evil: Degeneration performed "favourably" on the iPhone and iPod Touch.

Sales were also down in the company's Arcade business, with Capcom blaming increased competition and bad weather.
