EGDF calls for grant proposals

EGDF has called for proposals for game prototypes eligible for a grant from the European Commission's Media2007 program.

The available grants for software will range between EUR 10,000-60,000, but for the development of prototype consoles the grants can be as high as EUR 100,000. The first deadline for applications is November 17, while the second deadline will be April 17, 2009.

EGDF also pointed out that the total budget for the grants has grown from last year's EUR 1.5 million to EUR 2.5 million.

"This has almost doubled," said Malte Behrmann, general secretary of the EGDF "We see this as a major improvement. We are very grateful that Media2007 is making efforts to move into the right direction. It shows that the European Commission welcomes the cultural, technological and economic relevance of game development."
