EA to extend Take-Two offer to August 21?

Electronic Arts has filed a form with the SEC saying it has complied with the FTC's investigation into its attempted acquisition of rival publisher Take-Two.

The filing reveals that EA is likely to extend its July 18 deadline after promising not to acquire the company any earlier than August 21, unless it receives written notice from the FTC saying that it is closing the investigation.

The initial offer made by EA last February has been consistently fought off by Take-Two, recently causing stock market traders to question if the deal will ever happen.
