Acclaim licenses Solid State Networks technology
Peer-assisted delivery for launch of 2Moons
Solid State Networks announced that Acclaim Games has licensed its Solid Axis peer-assisted delivery technology for the launch of the 2Moons MMORPG.
The technology helped Acclaim successfully deliver 500,000 downloads of the 2Moons game within the first month of release, resulting in the biggest opening launch ever for an Acclaim online game title.
âUsing Solid Stateâs technology, we have achieved a combination of faster download speeds during peak demand and lower per-game delivery costs,â said Howard Marks, CEO of Acclaim Games. âWe are extremely pleased with these results and will be expanding use of this technology to all of our game titles.â
Solid State's software solution is an overlay to content delivery network infrastructure provided by BandCon, made possible through a partnership announced by the companies last month.
By receiving pieces of each file from many different sources, players are able to increase download times and reduce their dependence on the provisioned delivery infrastructure.
