Lionhead reveals Fable iPhone promotional app

Foursquare-like Kingmaker competes with other players, earns Fable 3 virtual currency

Peter Molyneux has detailed a free iPhone game designed to promote upcoming Xbox 360 title Fable 3.

The Kingmaker app asks each player to choose either the Rebel or Royalist faction, and earn points for their side by 'checking in' at specific locations.

One faction will be declared the victor come the release of Fable 3.

The app, and its associated website, also grants in-game gold for every visit, so players will have a head start in Fable 3.

"I like this really simple play, I'm really fascinated to see if the rebels win or the royalists win," said Molyneux when announcing the app at the Eurogamer Expo this morning.

"I love the idea of you being able to earn gold, i love the idea of possibly having things like treasure hunts for this. It's fantastic."

Kingmaker is available for free from today, with a Windows Phone 7 version due later.
