Infogrames extends Dungeons and Dragons license

Sells digital rights in board games

Infogrames has signed a new agreement with Hasbro concerning the licensing of Dungeons and Dragons as well as numerous board game franchises.

The agreement extends until 2017 Infogrames exploitation of the intellectual property rights to the Dungeons and Dragons universe, covering all formats including online and wireless.

"This agreement represents a reaffirmation of our partnership with Hasbro," said Infogrames' Patrick Leleu. "It is an important step in our business strategy that will allow us to keep and strengthen a franchise with significant potential, while giving the group additional resources to invest in the relaunch of its publishing business."

Under terms of the agreement, Hasbro has also purchased the digital gaming rights to nine board game franchises for USD 19.5 million, of which USD 4 million will be paid to Atari. The franchises consist of Monopoly, Scrabble, Risk, The Game of Life, Clue, Yahtzee, Battleship, Boggle, and Simon.
