ZeniMax acquires Arkane Studios

Bethesda parent buys Arx Fatalis and BioShock 2 studio

Bethesda parent ZeniMax Media has acquired Arx Fatalis developer Arkane Studios.

The announcement was made today at QuakeCon, with Bethesda's Pete Hines saying the studio was working on a new unannounced project.

"We are extremely pleased to join the family of Bethesda and id Software," said Arkane founder Raphael Colantonio, as reported by Eurogamer.net. "I don't know how it could be better."

Founded in 1999, the French developer has worked on Arx Fatalis, Dark Messiah of Might and Magic and most recently, BioShock 2.
