Youda Legend: The Curse of the Amsterdam Diamond

Hidden object game wins Tommi in German Children's Software Awards.

Hilversum, October 13, 2010 Dutch based online game company, Youdagames, was awarded with the German Children’s Software Award Tommi 2010 for its hidden object game Youda Legend: The Curse of the Amsterdam Diamond at the Frankfurt Book Fair.

Over 3,000 girls and boys examined the 20 submitted computer, online and console games. With the TOMMI Award outstanding, commendable and innovative software titles for children between six and 13 years are honored. The awards are held annually since 2002 at the Frankfurt Book Fair. Since 2010 the TOMMI is under the auspices of the German Federal Minister for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth, Dr. Kristina Schroeder.

The children’s jury could vote for games that were first selected by a prestigious jury of media experts. The child jury said the following about Youda Legend - The Curse of the Amsterdam Diamond:

“We really had to think about the hidden items and where they could be found. In addition, the story was exciting, the graphics beautiful and the puzzles had a lot of variety. The game teaches you to concentrate and use logic to solve the puzzles. All children between the age of 6 and 13 had an insanely fun time!

But what we liked the most was to start the game and sit with a friend in front of the screen trying to find the hidden objects and solving the puzzles together, each discovery told us something new about the story. When you start the game for the first time you cannot stop playing! Everything is perfect. It is never boring. I had to win.”

"The Tommies Children's Software is innovative, creative, nonviolent, and it is really fun - hopefully not only for children, but also their parents. As a parent you should look carefully which computer games your children play. Because children are best protected, if we help them to protect themselves, says Kristina Schroeder. “We all share responsibility for protecting children on their way in media worlds and to accompany them. Children need to learn to use these things safely and responsibly and the best way to learn these things is through playful gaming.” More information: http://www.kindersoftwarepreis.de/
