www.GameDevMarket.com

New online meeting place for studios, developers and freelancers.

London, 19 March 2008:

Heldhand, the UK-based development and management consultancy, today announces the beta launch of www.GameDevMarket.com, a free-to-use marketplace for games professionals to find one another and do business.

With the ever-rising cost of game development, there exists a real need for improved flexibility of working for games companies. Rather than relying upon huge in-house teams, more and more developers and publishers are recognising the benefits of bringing together the right specialists, at the right time, for each project. This long-discussed ‘film-model’ relies upon a strong worldwide talent pool, with studios large and small working with engine and effects specialists, gameplay gurus, concept and 3D artists, outsourcing firms, musicians, project managers, test houses and more.

GameDevMarket.com has been created to facilitate this change to a more flexible, more cost-effective development model.

Studios, developers, freelancers and more can create on-site profiles, detailing their skills and services along with portfolios of pictures and videos, showcasing their talents.

The site then allows publishers and developers to post jobs to the site, from requests for concept art or programming right up to full game development. Providers can then quote for that job, or just get in touch to start discussions.

GameDevMarket.com allows providers and buyers to contact one another via a message board system, and even includes eBay-style ratings to help buyers choose the right provider.

Harry Holmwood, founder of Heldhand, commented “We’ve had a great response from our first batch of invited users to the test phase of the site. Developers large and small are welcoming the opportunity to find and work with talented professionals from around the globe”

Simon Barrett, MD of Four Door Lemon, a UK developer already signed up to the site, added “GameDevMarket gives us a great opportunity to work with some

great interesting companies who we otherwise may not have had contact with. Through the site Four Door Lemon are able to continue providing great game development solutions in the form of programming, full game production, prototyping and middleware services."
