For immediate release

The online game publishing group GALA, operator of the gPotato portals in Japan, Europe and America, adds its support to the World Community Grid project to help scientific research with shared computing power from its communities. By getting involved in this program, the GALA group intends to gather gamers from all around the world to support researches in health and ecological domains, and show the power of solidarity.

The World Community Grid is a shared computing program which aims at helping public and non-profit research programs by sharing the required computation among thousands of personal computers. Sponsored by IBM, the World Community Grid already proved its efficiency by helping to identify 44 possible treatments against the deadly disease smallpox.

“gPotato is a global online gaming community. Communities have power and influence, and thus, can use it to fight for a better world for everyone” said Mr. Satoru Kikugawa, President of the GALA group, “Solidarity is a very important value for us. By connecting people from all around the world, we believe we can contribute to change the world in a more human way”.

To be part of this world changing initiative, gPotato invites all the gamer around the world to register on the http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org website, and join the gPotato team.
