Nintendo has confirmed that its Wii remote jacket add-on, announced in the US yesterday, will be available immediately in Europe.

Consumers can send off for one by filling in a request form on the official Nintendo site.

The silicone cover for the Wii remote is completely free, and provides extra grip and cushioning to protect the hardware from damage.

"All Wii Hardware, Wii Remote and Wii Play shipped from today will include the Wii remote jacket," a Nintendo spokesperson told Eurogamer.net. "So this should hit retail shelves in the UK in about seven days time."

"People who already have a Wii can claim their Wii Remote Jacket(s) by going to the official website and filling out the request form. They will receive their Wii Remote Jackets within 28 days."
