Wii Fit retains top spot in Japan

Wii Fit claimed the top spot in the Japanese software chart for the second consecutive week, as Nintendo platform games continue to dominate sales well into the new year.

Wii Fit claimed the top spot in the Japanese software chart for the second consecutive week, as Nintendo platform games continue to dominate sales well into the new year.

The Wii accounted for four of the top ten according to Media Create data for the week ending January 20, while the DS took five and the only non-Nintendo entry was for Sony's PlayStation Portable.

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games was the week's highest new entry in second, selling almost 90,000 copies, and it was followed by Mario Party DS and Wii Sports in third and fourth.

Monster Hunter Portable 2nd was the PSP title in fifth, and the rest of the top ten included many of the usual characters, including Final Fantasy IV, Dragon Quest IV and Super Mario Galaxy.

The PlayStation 3's highest placed title was Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare in 16th, with the Xbox 360 edition of the game was that platform's best performer in 29th.
