Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?

UK developer Two Way Media launches version of ubiquitous quiz for Portugal Telecom's Meo IPTV platform.

London July 24th 2009

Two Way Media, the UK’s leading TV games specialist and Meo, Portugal Telecom’s leading IPTV service announce today the launch of the interactive version of the TV game show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? The quiz game captures the look of the classic TV show, features questions from the local Portuguese production, and will allow players to make use of the well-known lifelines such as "Ask the Audience," "Phone-A-Friend" and "50:50".

As well as Millionaire, Two Way Media’s most popular IPTV games and those that it has created for Turner Broadcasting and Baby TV will be available to Meo’s viewers. This latest deal means an additional 384,000 homes in Portugal (at the end of March 09) will have access to these premium branded games.

James Turner, the chief executive of Two Way Media states: "Games such as Millionaire have proved extremely successful with UK television viewers. The TV show is also an absolute favourite in Portugal so it makes perfect sense to bring the game to Meo’s subscribers. We are thrilled to launch this game outside of the UK for the first time with such great partners as Portugal Telecom and we look forward to entertain new audiences anywhere in the world with games like Millionaire".

Vera Pinto Pereira, Director of TV Services at Portugal Telecom adds: "Two Way Media brings games featuring fantastic and recognized brands to Meo that will be instant hits with kids and their parents. We feel confident that its games will create great entertainment for our interactive viewers".
