Werd Interactive Launches New Mobile Portal, New Games Range & New Price Point

For Immediate Release:

Game Developer Conference, San Jose, CA. March 21st. Buying mobile games is a slow, complicated and expensive process, which is turning off more players than it is attracting, according to development studio Werd Interactive.

In response Werd today launched http://werdmobile.com, the company's brand new consumer WAP portal.

Visitors worldwide can browse and buy all of Werd's games directly from their phone, for only $1.99 or $2.99 each. This includes it's unique new 'Spectrum' range of games, which allow players to change and customise the color of almost everything within the game as well as it's popular Neo Retro entry level titles.

"We're finding consumers all over the world are being discouraged by the rising cost of games, confused by the availability of titles, the lack of information and the often complicated process of paying for and downloading games on mobile," says Randy Shepherd, the managing director of Werd Interactive. "This is slowing the growth of the industry as a whole and in many cases putting people off buying mobile games altogether."

The company's Neo Retro titles, launched in 2005, are games designed specifically for new players. Offering simple graphics and easily understood gameplay, each title has been created to appeal to casual and non-gamers. All of the Neo Retro titles: Poker, Blackjack, Tiles, Meteor Storm, Power Bass and Storm Soldier Advance, offer classic game styles, reinterpreted for an inexperienced mobile audience.

The launch of http://werdmobile.com also offers a brand new range of games from Werd. Storm Soldier Advance is the first title on Werd's new Neo Retro Advance label. Neo Retro Advance builds upon the original Neo Retro range, offering the same accessible gameplay, but adding even more reply value, larger gaming environments and more appeal for experienced gamers. Future additions to the Neo Retro Advance range will includes community based gaming titles and even more user customization. Storm Soldier Advance is available now and is priced at $2.99.

Alongside this, Werd is now launching their new 'Spectrum' range. The Spectrum titles are a unique combination gaming and personalisation. Each game allows the user to change the colour of various components, from menus and start screens through to the backgrounds of each title. This unique feature gives players the chance to make the game more personal, just as they do with wallpaper, ringtones and screensavers. Spectrum games, including Spectrum Tiles Red Ribbon, which the company created to benefit HIV/AIDS awareness, are available from http://werdmobile.com for only $2.99

In addition, Werd has also launched it's latest title I Am Sudoku exclusively on the new WAP portal. Like all of Werd's titles, the game is simple and fun to play. However I Am Sudoku offers fans of the logic game the best version of the game yet to reach mobile. In addition to fabulous graphics, the game can create brand new boards - giving the player unlimited gaming and constant new challenges. The game also allows players to create their own boards - or solve Sudoku puzzles found in newspapers etc. With three difficulty levels and multiple skins and graphical themes available, I Am Sudoku is the most challenging and addictive Sudoku game on the market.

http://werdmobile.com gives visitors a number of different ways to pay. Customers worldwide can have the cost of their purchases added directly to their phone bill - or subtracted from their pre-pay credit. They can pay via the popular 'Pay Pal system, or directly with a credit/debit card. Customers can even pre-pay for content, allowing them to browse and buy at their leisure.

"With the launch of Werd Mobile, we are trying to give customers a single access point for all of our titles," says Shepherd. "The price will, we hope, give them good value for the games they buy and we've made it as simple and convenient as possible for them to find, pay for and download the games. All of our titles are simple, affordable, and entertaining. With our new Spectrum range, we're trying to offer players something a little bit more and tie our games into the personalization market, so we appeal to those users who download new ringtones and graphics, but who don't consider themselves to be 'gamers'. We will be updating http://werdmobile.com on a regular basis and already have two new games in the pipeline which will offer the same great value and gameplay."
