Werd Interactive brings Halloween to handsets

Holiday special mobile game offers broomsticks on a budget

Alabama-based mobile publisher and developer Werd Interactive has announced the release of a new, Halloween themed mobile game, specifically created for release in the low-cost Neo Retro range.

Available directly from the company's website on all major networks, Pumpkin Storm has been designed to offer fast-paced fun for a wide selection of popular handsets from Nokia, Samsung, SonyEricsson, Motorola, Sanyo and Sharp.

The title will be available for USD 2.99, which the company hopes will encourage both hardcore and casual mobile gamers to give the game a try. Created as an adaptation of classic shoot-em-up Meteor Storm, Pumpkin Storm pits players against a horde of evil pumpkins as they use their flying broomsticks to navigate the levels and destroy everything in their wake.

Power-ups, speed boosts and weapon upgrades are all in the mix, and gamers can opt to pay for the game using PayPal to prevent any billing confusion normally associated with premium SMS and mobile content downloads.

Werd Interactive's managing director, Randy Shepherd, said: "Pumpkin Storm is a game for every single phone owner out there, from kids to grandparents. It doesn't matter if you've never played a game before in your life, if you own a mobile phone and you know what a pumpkin looks like, you can play this game."

He added: "It's only three dollars, which is less a lot less than a real pumpkin and it's something you'll be able to play with for a lot longer, without it going mushy."

Pumpkin Storm is the latest addition to Werd's Neo Retro range, which offers low-cost, simple gaming for all mobile phone users. The range has been specifically designed to provide short, sharp bursts of fun for mobiles with a low price point, encouraging non-traditional gamers to try something new. Other titles in the range include parlour games such as blackjack and poker, puzzle games and a fishing title, among others.
