Webby Awards

DIDMO's in-game ads system scores in the mobile gaming category.

Stockholm, Sweden – April 10, 2008 – The Webby Awards, the leading international honor for the Web, today recognized DIDMO’s in-game advertising solution as an Official Webby Honoree in the Mobile Gaming category, a distinction that recognizes work exhibiting remarkable achievement. A leader in the Scandinavian mobile advertising market, DIDMO’s newly crowned status as a Webby Honoree follows the announcement of its planned expansion into the US and key European markets.

Hailed as the "Oscars of the Internet" by the New York Times, The Webby Awards is the leading international award event honoring excellence on the Internet, including Websites, Interactive Advertising, Online Film & Video, and Mobile Websites. The awards are judged by the International Academy of Digital Arts & Sciences, a global organization that includes David Bowie, Harvey Weinstein, Arianna Huffington, Matt Groening, Jamie Oliver, Internet inventor Vinton Cerf, and RealNetworks CEO Rob Glaser.

“To be deemed worthy of such a highly coveted honor by a panel of widely-acclaimed industry pioneers is a significant milestone for us”, said Joseph Oliver, CEO, DIDMO. “We are truly privileged by this distinction as it showcases DIDMO as a leading player in the mobile advertising space and the innovation we offer to the US and European markets.”

The 12th Annual Webby Awards received nearly 10,000 entries from over 60 countries and all 50 states. Out of more than 10,000 entries submitted, fewer than 15% received this honor and were deemed an Official Honoree.

DIDMO’s proven platform currently delivers free, full-version games to 99% of all java-enabled mobile phones in an ad-supported shell for 24 hours, after which consumers have the option to purchase the content. Users are exposed to just four seconds of interactive, full-screen advertising to get into a game, a feature that has outperformed traditional WAP banner ads with an average click-through rate of 5-10%, compared to 1-2%. The company plans to offer additional forms of entertainment content in the future, as well as launch a widespread end-user network and continue to widen its support for the latest mobile phones.
