WCG 2006-Samsung Euro Championship opens at CeBIT 2006

200 gamers from 20 countries compete for the best European gamer title in seven game titles including PC and console

(Seoul, March 10, 2006) The World Cyber Games (www.worldcybergames.com, WCG), the world's largest computer and video game festival, holds WCG 2006-Samsung Euro Championship at CeBIT 2006 in Hannover, Germany, with 200 top-ranking European players from 20 European countries competing from March 9th through 12th.

Organized by ACE, WCG's German Strategic Partner, and sponsored by European Headquarters of Samsung Electronics, the WCG 2006-Samsung Euro Championship (SEC) is held at Hall 27 of CeBIT 2006 for four days as an ultimate gaming event for European gamers and spectators. As a launching event for this year's WCG pan-regional and national championships, WCG 2006-SEC is expected to provide the joy of e-sports, with top 200 European players competing for best European gamer title and winning prizes amounting to US$ 100,000 in seven official games.

Deutsche Messe, the organizer of CeBIT, has allocated Hall 27 as a special exhibition hall named "Digital Living" and hosted WCG events this year, considering a great success of WCG 2005 Euro Championship with enthusiastic responses of spectators and local media. The Hall 27 consists of exhibitions focusing on games, entertainment and mobile gaming equipment for the ultimate gaming experience for gamers and spectators, and special admission tickets would be on sale for teenagers as well as gamers. Which gives CeBIT with an opportunity of expanding its business territory from traditional B2B to B2C.

WCG 2006-SEC is expected to attract spectators' and gamers' attentions as the leader of digital entertainment events by offering not only tournaments for top European gamers but also gaming and IT exhibitions spectators can enjoy.

Especially, WCG 2006-SEC has established "Football Zone," which resembles a football stadium and a Korean professional FIFA gamer, Yoon-seo Park, will present demonstration games for spectators against European FIFA champion of 2005 Amin "mTw.ATI|JiMmY" Ben, reflecting the frenzy of FIFA World Cup in Germany this year.

"WCG 2006-Samsung Euro Championship, as a kick-off event of WCG regional championships to be launched this year, will provide a wonderful opportunity to experience the all-round gaming festival for the European gamers and relevant people in IT industry visiting the CeBIT 2006" said Hank Jeong, CEO of ICM which organizes WCG, in the opening remarks.

WCG 2006 Grand Final will be held at F1 circuit in Monza, Italy, from October 18th through 22nd and national championships in individual WCG participating countries are scheduled from April with online and offline preliminaries.
