Wales Interactive co-founder David Banner to receive MBE

Banner has become a central figure in the Welsh games industry in his 23 year career

Wales Interactive co-founder David Banner has been appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in the Queen's Birthday Honours List

In an email to GamesIndustry.biz, Banner said he was "extremely proud" to receive the honour, which has arrived after more than 20 years in the UK games industry.

"I'm overwhelmed by the news, feel very humbled and still can't quite believe it," he said. "When the envelope labelled 'On Her Majesty's Service' dropped through my letterbox I initially thought they wanted me to be the new Bond."

Banner started his career at Eidos Interactive in 1995, and he has since become a central figure in establishing and promoting the games industry in Wales.

He co-founded Wales Interactive in 2012, which has now sold more than one million copies across its diverse portfolio, which includes Typoman, the FMV game Late Shift, and the PSVR titles Time Carnage and Don't Knock Twice.
