Ultimate Game Movie Awards

Cash prizes on offer along with a screening at the Edinburgh Interactive Festival.

MVS and Infinity-Gaming invite all budding game movie directors to step forward and take part in the Ultimate Game Movie Awards. It is well known that the games industry harbours some of the world’s best creative talent but now it is time to showcase the creative skills of those not directly involved with making the games. For several years there has been an “underground” culture of players that have spent their hours creating Frag Movies that include stunning visuals and cinematic effects to impress their peers and the wider gaming community.

In a bid to embrace this raw talent MVS is opening up a competition to find some of these stars and showcase their work. Split into 4 categories entrants are required to produce a short clip demonstrating their visual skills and submit it via the dedicated MVS microsite.

Philip Wride, from Infinity-Gaming, made the following comment – “This is a great opportunity for all those in eSports, and gaming as a whole, who spend their time making Frag Movies with little external praise. This competition provides gamers the chance to demonstrate their skills in front of an international audience as well as some of the games industry’s leading people.”

The 4 categories are:

- Quake Series (Quake 1, Quake 2, Quake 3, Quake 4, Quake Live)

- Counterstrike Series (Counterstrike 1.6, Counterstrike Condition Zero, Counterstrike Source)

- Call of Duty Series (Call of Duty 1, Call of Duty 2, Call of Duty 4)

- Other Games

Prizes:

- 1st Place in each category; £250

- 2nd Place in each category; £150

- 3rd Place in each category; £100

Entrants will be judged by a mixed panel of people from creative, gaming and media backgrounds to determine who they think deserves to win. As an added bonus all 3 finalists from each category will have their clips showcased at the Edinburgh Interactive Festival in August as part of their Game Screening Programme.

The competition will be open for entries on Monday 11th May with the submission deadline being Friday 5th June at 2300 GMT. Winners will be announced on Monday 8th June. Full rules can be found on the MVS Microsite; http://mvscc.infinity-gaming.co.uk
