TIGA marches on Number 10 Downing Street with a petition.

TIGA, the trade association representing the UK video games industry, today took a petition calling for the introduction of a Games Tax Relief to Number 10 Downing Street.
The petition was delivered in person at 11am this morning by Richard Wilson, CEO of TIGA; Matthew Nagy, Managing Director of Coyote Console; Philip Oliver, Chief Executive of Blitz Games Studios and Mark Gerhard, CEO of Jagex Ltd. Bill Olner MP for Nuneaton and Chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Group for the Computer and Video Games Industry accompanied the industry figures to Number 10 to deliver the petition.
In total 55 senior industry figures supported the petition including Jason Kingsley from Rebellion, Ed Daly from Zoe Mode, Gareth Edmondson from Ubisoft, Mike Haigh from Sony, Paul Mayze from Monumental and Colin Macdonald from Realtime Worlds.
Richard Wilson, CEO of TIGA, said:
If it is right to provide tax relief for the UK film industry then it is also right to provide tax relief for the UK video games sector. The introduction of a Games Tax Relief would increase employment, investment and enable British video game developers to better compete against those countries which have sort to attract this growing sector using tax incentives.
If the UK intends to capitalise on this modern industry and echo the success of the UK film industry then I urge the Government to introduce a Games Tax Relief as a matter of urgency.
