UK Charts: Star Wars franchise makes it two at the top

Both of the top spots in the UK software charts this week are occupied by Star Wars titles, with The Collective's Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith knocking last week's No.1, Lego Star Wars, down a single place to No.2.

Between them, the two games account for a massive 57 per cent of the sales from all of the top ten titles in this week's chart, according to the latest figures from UK market research firm Chart-Track.

There's only one other new entry in the top ten, with Digital Extremes' first person shooter Pariah coming in at number seven and marking the highest debut yet for a title from new publisher Hip Interactive.

The only other new release that makes it into the top 40 this week is Nintendo's latest addition to the DS' catalogue, Yoshi Touch & Go, which comes in at number 22 in the chart but is still behind the format's best selling game, Super Mario 64 DS, which is up one place to number 14.

Back in the top ten, there's not much movement among the existing titles, with FIFA Street holding on at number three while Midnight Club 3 drops two places to this week's number four, and Sega's World Snooker Championship 2005 is up a place to number five.

Jester's TT Superbikes is the biggest mover in the top ten, falling four places to number nine after a strong debut last week, while NCSoft's Guild Wars and Activision's Doom 3 drop out of the ranking to make way for the new releases, falling to numbers 11 and 13 respectively.

Notable entries on the missing in action list this week are Square Enix' excellent GBA title Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories, Sega's Tenchu: Fatal Shadows, Konami's Enthusia Professional Racing and Namco's Codemasters-published SRS: Street Racing Syndicate.

This Friday sees the arrival of what's expected to be one of the last headline titles for the Xbox, Forza Motorsport, along with the PS2 and Xbox versions of Eidos' Championship Manager 5 and the latest Singstar song pack, Singstar Popworld - along, of course, with the new silver edition of Sony's slimline PS2, which should help shift some hardware units over the weekend.
