UK charts: GTA IV still on top

Despite a significant decline in sales, GTA IV and Wii Fit remain in first and second place atop the UK sales charts

Grand Theft Auto IV remains at the top of the UK sales charts in its third week according to data released by Chart-Track.

Sales of both GTA IV and second place title Wii Fit dropped significantly - 41 per cent and 52 per cent respectively - but such declines weren't enough to remove the games from their places on the charts.

Mario Kart Wii climbed up six places from number nine to number three, thanks to renewed stock. According to Chart-Track, Nintendo games accounted for three of the top five best sellers and twenty exclusives in the top forty.

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue fell off the Top Ten chart, dropping from eighth to twelfth place. This gave Guitar Hero III enough room to re-enter the Top Ten, moving up from eleventh to tenth place.

The Top Ten best-selling titles in the UK for the week ending May 17 were:

  • 1. Grand Theft Auto IV
  • 2. Wii Fit
  • 3. Mario Kart Wii
  • 4. Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games
  • 5. Wii Play
  • 6. Pro Evolution Soccer 2008
  • 7. Iron Man: The Official Videogame
  • 8. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
  • 9. Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training
  • 10. Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock
