New monthly gaming event Trueplayerz, hosted by British fashion label Joystick Junkies and sponsored by UK Online, kicks off on 25th September - with the proceeds of the event going to charity.

Gaming fans of all ages are invited to test their skills as heats begin at The Marquee Club in London's Leicester Square. The event will be filmed by music and entertainment channel TMF, who will also be airing the first screening of its brand new television series Game One (airing every Sunday at 3.30pm).

Competitors will be tested in a series of heats, with special tournaments in three of EA's titles; Burnout Revenge, Battlefield 2: Modern Combat and FIFA 2006. Additional heats will feature Capcom's 2D fighter, Fighting Jam.

The Trueplayerz competition heats will be held each month, beginning on 25th September, with further dates set for 23rd October and 20th November. Various gaming, peripheral and accessory prizes will be awarded throughout the competition and the overall winner will also receive a 12 month subscription to UK Online's 8MB Broadband service, worth GBP 400.

Proceeds from the entry fee (GBP 5 to enter the tournament, GBP 3 for spectators and GBP 5 for the after party) will be donated to the winner's charity of choice. Organisers have stated that although all age groups are welcome to attend the event, proof of age may be required to compete on certain games.
