Trion signs ex-EA online experts

Trion World Networks has scored an executive coup by signing two of Electronic Arts' key online experts.

Trion World Networks has scored an executive coup by signing two of Electronic Arts' key online experts.

Erin Turner joins the broadband entertainment specialist as senior director of web services and publishing, while Peter Huang takes the role of senior director of web technology.

Turner most recently oversaw global e-commerce for EA, where she launched the digital distribution of PC games and content in North America. She has also worked on key online franchises including Battlefield 2: Modern Combat and The Sims 2.

Huang was responsible for the development of EA Online and EA China before joining Trion, as well as developing technologies for Pogo.com.

"We are extremely excited to bring Erin and Peter on board," said Lars Buttler, CEO of Trion and himself a former Electronic Arts online executive.

"Not only are they leaders in the world of web and online games, they are a proven team whose vision and experience will ensure we deliver on our mission to captivate audiences with game services across multiple platforms in a global market," he said.

Trion plans to bring together traditional entertainment, media, internet and gaming services, although the company has not yet revealed specific product details.

Earlier this month Trion announced a partnership with Hewlett Packard to help build technology for Trion's multiplatform gaming services.
