Toytek signing

Developer of The Ultimate Alphabet joins TIGA.

TIGA, the trade association representing the UK games industry, today announced Toytek as its newest member.

Toytek is a small independent games development studio based in heart of Guildford, UK. Georgina Mackenzie who formerly worked at The Creative Assembly, Climax Studios and Electronic Arts, founded the company in 2008.

Toytek’s focus is to bring high quality, informative games to new platforms. The company is currently developing chiefly for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad, but plans to develop for the web and other mobile and handheld devices in the future.

Toytek’s flagship game The Ultimate Alphabet was launched on iPad on June 22, 2010 and has already been featured by Apple in New and Noteworthy in the USA and the UK. The Ultimate Alphabet was a publishing phenomenon in 1987 and a New York Times and Sunday Times bestseller. The puzzle book by Mike Wilks featured 26 beautifully painted images that contained thousands of words to find and name. The iPhone version of the game is due for release in the next few days and will be closely followed by the release of Animals iSpy : Junior an iPad bilingual jigsaw puzzle for toddlers in French and English.

Georgina Mackenzie, Managing Director at Toytek explains the company’s reasons for joining TIGA: “As a small independent developer we have very little time to get involved with the bigger issues affecting our industry. We joined TIGA as we felt that that these issues were being fought for us by a dedicated team. TIGA’s support for start-ups and independent studios has been first class. Thank you.”

Dr. Richard Wilson, TIGA CEO welcomed Toytek to TIGA: “TIGA is proud to represent small independent start-up studios like Toytek. These studios are at the cutting edge of the development industry and are fuel for the growth of our economy. Toytek is a fantastic example of a highly creative and talented group of people taking advantage of the changes that are occurring in distribution and content in the games industry. We wish them every success.”
