THQ restructures, appoints new EVP

Martin Good heads up kids and casual dept as Doug Clemmer walks

THQ has streamlined itself into two key business units, promoting new senior management to each. Martin Good, the former senior vice president of THQ Asia Pacific, is now an executive vice president of THQ Inc, reporting directly to CEO and president Brian Farrell.

The publisher's Online Business Unit has been absorbed into the two remaining units, Core Games and Kids, Family and Casual Games. This comes just twelve months on from the company's restructure into three groups, following a painful year of losses and lay-offs.

"Online and digital represents our industry's largest growth opportunity," said Farrell, "and it is imperative that we integrate digital and online game strategies into all of our key franchise plans.

"Now that we have momentum in our online pipeline, this is a natural evolution of our organisational structure, putting the leaders of our two product-focused business units in charge of development across all platforms. The company will now be organised in two clear business units and we are aggressively creating content to be delivered to gamers in all possible formats."

In core games, Steve Dauterman becomes senior vice president of Product Development, working under EVP Danny Bilson. Both Good and Dauterman will be responsible for THQ's online gaming - the latter overseeing online game development and the former global online services.

Good steps into the role following the unexplained resignation of Kids, Family and Casual senior vice president Doug Clemmer, who will end his eight-year tenure at the company in August.

"I am very excited to lead the THQ Kids, Family, Casual Games Business Unit," said Good. "This is a vibrant product category and I am excited about our robust pipeline and partnerships. In addition, I look forward to leveraging my Asia online gaming experience to run the operations for online games across the company."

Former general manager of THQ Australia/NZ Rodney Block replaces Good at THQ Asia Pacific, taking on the mantle of managing director.
