The Last of US Part 2 secures a record 13 BAFTA nominations

Naughty Dog's game leads a big haul for Sony, with PlayStation exclusives accounting for 41 nominations overall

Naughty Dog's The Last of Us Part 2 is up for 13 awards at this year's BAFTAs -- the largest number for a single game since the event started in 2004.

Both Remedy's Control and Kojima Productions' Death Stranding were nominated for 11 each at last year's BAFTA Game Awards, but the PlayStation exclusive has surpassed their achievement by two.

Naughty Dog's celebrated sequel is the high point in an impressive night for Sony Interactive Entertainment: Suckerpunch's Ghost of Tsushima received ten nominations, Insomniac's Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales got seven, Media Molecule's Dreams got seven, and Sumo Digital's Sackboy: A Big Adventure got four.

Outside of PlayStation exclusives, the most notable game was Supergiant's Hades, which received eight nominations.

The nominees for the most prestigious award, Best Game, are Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Ghost of Tsushima, Hades, Half-Life Alyx, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and The Last of Us Part 2.

The BAFTA Game Awards 2021 will be a livestreamed event on March 25, hosted by the presenter and journalist Elle Osili-Wood. The recipient of this year's BAFTA Fellowship has yet to be announced.
