The Captain Is Back...

January 27th. Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it Santa Claus with some kind of weird helmet on? No, it's retired superhero Captain Dynamo. He's back in action and heading for a Smartphone near you, thanks to mobile games publisher Telcogames and Codemasters Mobile.

Based on the classic home computer game from Codemasters, Captain Dynamo is a vertically scrolling platform game recreated specifically for Symbian Smartphones. The captain must heroically squeeze back into his old costume and set out to recover hundreds of diamonds stolen by evil genius Austin Van Flyswatter, who has hidden them among hundreds or traps, pitfalls and snares for the unwary. He plans to use the diamonds to somehow rule the world - we think. Or he may just like diamonds.

Captain Dynamo offers players twelve levels of platform fun in which the captain must recover the diamonds - avoiding the enemies, booby traps and devices - and make death defying leaps to reach the teleport station at the highest part of the level. However, the captain isn't quite as young or tough as he once was. One touch from any of the monsters or traps can mean grisly death, so concentration, control and courage are required at all times.

The mobile version of Captain Dynamo retains all of the colourful graphics, animation and gameplay of the original title, as well as the full soundtrack of music, which is now considered by many retro gamers as a classic of the genre.
