Tecmo unveils NBA license game

New title joins Puzzlegeddon and rhythm action/platformer fusion as newly-announced games

Japanese publisher and developer Tecmo has announced three new titles for Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network, with Fret Nice, Puzzlegeddon and an officially-licensed basketball title, NBA Unrivalled.

As detailed by IGN, Fret Nice will be a mixture of rhythm action and 2D platformer gameplay, where players attack enemies with guitar riffs. The game will use a "facial attribute system" where enemies' face will help to indicate which tunes will be most effective.

Puzzlegeddon is a version of an earlier PC title, involving the usual matching of coloured titles but with a six player online and offline multiplayer option.

NBA Unrivaled will use official 2009 team and player rosters, but will feature purposefully stylised graphics and the ability to play to the crowd for extra rewards.

Tecmo has produced several NBA-licensed basketball games in the past for the NES, SNES and Mega Drive. This new newest title though follows continued attempts by the company to revive the popular Tecmo Bowl gridiron franchise from the same era.
