Tecmo Koei reports $20.3 million loss

Share price plummets as publisher delays key titles

Japanese publisher and developer Tecmo Koei has reported a loss of ¥1.84bn ($20.3m / €14.5m) for the three months ending December 31, 2009.

Although the official investor reports have not yet been translated into English, a Yahoo Finance article translated by website GameSpot suggests that lower than expected sales of Wii exclusive Samurai Warriors 3 in Japan were primary to blame for the poor results.

The company also lowered its full year profit estimates by 97 per cent, to ¥200m ($2.2m / €1.6m).

It has already confirmed the delay of key title Quantum Theory, amid rumours that Trinity: Souls of Zill O'll has also been seriously delayed.

As a result of the poor financial results the Dynasty Warriors and Ninja Gaiden publisher saw its share price fall by almost 10 per cent on the Japanese stock market.
