Ludwigsburg, 23rd February 2010

The Institute of Animation, Effects and Digital Postproduction at the Filmakademie Baden-Wuerttemberg (Germany) offers a two-year training program in English language for computer science graduates who are aiming to become Technical Directors (TD), which involves combining students’ previous technical knowledge with artistic work. Through working on film projects and in production teams, they learn how to design setups and rigs, acquire experience in lighting, shading, rendering, textures and effects, learn how to work with expressions and scripts, to program tools and plug-ins, to automate animation and other processes as well as the definition of workflows and production pipelines. Students can actively participate in the research and development of trendsetting applications, within the context of our curriculum. The open-source applications Facial Animation Toolset and Frapper were realized at the Institute and are now used worldwide.

Prerequisites for this graduate program are at least an intermediate diploma or a bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics or similar studies as well as good English language knowledge, programming skills and interest in the media industry proved by letters of recommendation, job certificates or work samples.

The Institute of Animation is a German state funded school. Students only pay an administrative fee.

Application deadline: 15. Mai 2010
