TANDEM EVENTS LAUNCHES FIRST UK CAREERS FAIR FOR COMPUTER AND VIDEO GAMES UNDERGRADUATES

Exhibition organiser Tandem Events is launching a series of much-needed careers fairs

Exhibition organiser Tandem Events is launching a series of much-needed careers fairs to introduce the UK's hottest young gaming talent to the publishers and developers who need them.

Games Grads will be one-day events taking place in Manchester and London on April 24 and 26, respectively. Tandem Events will be working only with those universities running the most-respected computer and video games courses in the UK to attract hundreds of the finest work-ready graduates. As a result, the organiser is expecting a strong turn out from both students and potential employers.

The fairs have been designed to give students a unique opportunity to get in front of some of the industry's leading game creators and developers. They will be able to find out what vacancies are available, as well as prove they can play a vital part in their teams of tomorrow.

"The UK computer and video games industry is worth more than £2 billion annually and, with three next gen platforms on the market this year, there is huge potential for further growth in 2007 and beyond. That growth will require fresh - and very talented - blood, and that's where Games Grads comes in," commented Andy Lane, managing director of Tandem Events.

"Specialist computer and video games degree courses are on the increase, but until now there has never been a career fair specifically designed for this skills market. There are plenty of general careers fairs targeted at school kids, and that's fine, but Games Grads is a step above that. It's for those people who have already made a commitment to working in the computer and video games industry by enrolling on a vocational course to establishing a professional qualification: exactly the kind of people that publishers and developers are looking for."

Companies interested in exhibiting at Games Grads should contact Andy Lane at Tandem Events on 020 7405 4500.

Games Grads is free to attend. Register at www.gamesgrads.co.uk.
