Summer Athletics 2009

Headed to Wii, PC and Xbox 360 this summer.

Hamburg/Germany, May 7th, 2009 – Wii™, PC and the Xbox 360®video game and entertainment system from Microsoft are the systems on the starting blocks for Summer Athletics 2009. The sports game will be available on all three platforms this summer. The Wii version even incorporates some of the physical elements of track and field thanks to the Wii Balance Board™.

In Summer Athletics 2009 the controls are individually designed for each platform and discipline, taking maximum advantage of each formats’ unique strengths. This makes Summer Athletics 2009 easy-to-learn sports fun with a huge variety of gameplay.

While Wii players imitate the natural breaststroke of swimming, it is about rotating the left and right sticks in correct speed on Xbox 360. PC players either choose classical retro style keyboard controls or plug in their gamepad or Xbox 360 controller. Due to several years of experience with multiplatform sports titles, developer 49Games is known for creating intuitive and comfortable controls.

The battle for Gold Medals and personal bests sparks excitement and healthy competition in Summer Athletics 2009. Athletes from all over the world run, throw, jump and swim for victory. Millimeters and split seconds will decide the winners.

When playing with friends and family, a living room becomes a stadium. It’s not only four players competing; in Summer Athletics 2009 they can chase records and beat their best times as a team, to eventually celebrate their big victory together.

The athletes compete in 28 summer time disciplines, including 100 meters sprint, high diving, javelin or the new skeet shooting event. In Berlin World Cup mode, a national team can go for ultimate glory in the World Championships in 15 track and field contests.

With a variety of game modes, format specific controls and up-to-date graphics, Summer Athletics 2009 will be challenging and fun to play at the same time. Featuring various difficulty settings, the game supports all playing styles; from casual to frequent gamers.
