Studio Liddell/Chapman Entertainment deal

iPhone and Wii games on the way based on Roary the Racing Car and Fifi and the Flowertots.

TUESDAY 30 MARCH 2010

Independent creative agency, Studio Liddell has licensed Chapman Entertainment properties Roary the Racing Car and Fifi and the Flowertots with plans to launch an iPhone app and develop games for the Nintendo Wii.

Studio Liddell has worked with Chapman Entertainment since 2004 to produce the CGI content for both TV based shows, broadcast in over 140 countries.

The Roary iPhone App, ‘Rollin' Road’, is scheduled for release at the end of March 2010, and will provide younger kids with a simple, rewarding game featuring one of their favourite television stars. As Roary, players have to race along the 'rollin' road', dodging oil slicks and notching up distance without colliding with the other Silver Hatch regulars. The game uses the iPhone's accelerometer functions to control Roary, making the game suitable for even the youngest fan, and as all scores can be submitted to the online high score table, everyone has the chance to become the number one star!

Studio Liddell is also developing Nintendo Wii Games for the two properties, expected during 2011. Players of the Roary racing game will find themselves immersed in a series of mini adventures within the Roary world, along with all their favourite characters from the show. It’s Mr Carburettor’s birthday and everyone wants to make sure it’s extra special by organizing a spectacular birthday Grand Prix in his honour.

In the Fifi game, players will have the opportunity to decorate Fifi’s bedroom, choosing their own clothes from the wardrobe. They will also be able to play in the Flowertot garden, interacting with other characters – planting seeds and helping them grow, baking, painting or simply being Fifi’s best friend.

Ian Liddell, Managing Director of Studio Liddell says: “Roary and Fifi are fantastic properties with huge potential for multi-platform. We have been working hard to develop games that will make kids feel they are fully immersed in a real-life episode of Roary or Fifi and we are currently speaking to publishers to launch the Wii games early next year.”

Valerie Fry, Director of Licensing at Chapman Entertainment adds, “The team at Studio Liddell are experts in animation and interactive applications, and therefore we are very pleased to be working with them again on Fifi and Roary in this capacity. We are confident of another success story, particularly with the growing popularity of Wii and iPhone Apps!”

The contract between the two companies will last until June 2013. Studio Liddell is currently approaching publishing partners to assist in bringing the titles to market.
