Press & Trade Visitor Day: 23 August 2006
As it did last year, the Deutsche Bahn - German Rail - will again be bringing GC visitors quickly and conveniently this August to the event fair of summer 2006. On Saturday, 26 August, special trains run from Cologne and Munich to help long-distance visitors on their way to Leipzig.
Departure times for the trains are 2.00 a.m. from Munich and 3.00 a.m. from Cologne, arriving at 10.00 in the morning on 27 August at the Leipzig Fair station, Messe-Bahnhof. The return journey from Leipzig is scheduled for 7.00 p.m. on 27 August. Visitors will be back in Cologne and Munich between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. on Monday morning.
As from 12 June 2006, rail tickets have been on sale at all DB travel centres and agency offices licenced to sell rail tickets. They are return tickets and cost between 56 euros and 64 euros on the Munich-Leipzig route depending on the departure station, and between 52 euros and 61 euros on the Cologne-Leipzig route. School students/college students/trainees, the unemployed/benefit recipients, military conscripts/community work conscripts, the severely disabled and pensioners are entitled to concessions.
Train tickets include entitlement to GC admission and can be exchanged for an original admission ticket either on the train or at the info counters in the Glass Hall at the Exhibition Centre.
Online Forum for interactive exchange
GC visitors who would like to spend more than one day in Leipzig can use the Online Forum on the GC website for uncomplicated organisation of their stay. Leipzig residents who can offer a spare room or a bed during the GC and GC visitors looking for affordable accommodation are able to use this to get in touch. At the same time, the Forum is available to exchange information on the fair's programme highlights or news from the industry.
