Sony Ericsson and Exit Games announce the world's first 3D multiplayer games for Java mobile phones

Hamburg, February 15, 2005

Sony Ericsson Mobile Communication and Exit Games announce the world's first 3D multiplayer games for the upcoming 3D Java devices released in Q2 2005. The cooperation involves the global marketing of several Java games for GPRS and 3G networks. All titles are based on the multiplayer technology Exit Games Neutron and are developed by the 3D game studio Fishlabs.

At this year's 3GSM World Congress in Cannes, the two companies announced details regarding the first titles, which will be available as of Q2 2005. With its impressive graphics and driving physics provided by the Fishlabs developers, the racing game "Motoraver", for instance, demonstrates the great leap in quality which the consumer can expect from the new Sony Ericsson telephones. All titles, including the flight game "Cloud Commander", allows gamers to compete against each other via GPRS or UMTS networks. The 3D first-person shooter "Robot Alliance" goes even further. In this Massive Multiplayer Online Game (MMOG), thousands of gamers all over the globe compete to gain dominance over a virtual planet.

"We are enthusiastic about our cooperation with Exit Games and their partners. 3D multiplayer games show that the graphic capacities of our devices, in combination with mobile communications networks, make an innovative form of mobile entertainment possible - an obvious advantage for end-customers and mobile communications providers alike," comments Alexandra Kröger, Content & Licensing manager EMEA of Sony Ericsson.

"Sony Ericsson's outstanding 3D technology on more than 50 million devices sold offers completely new options for game designers - the Fishlab games demonstrate this impressively!" adds Harald Behnke, CEO of Exit Games. "We are very happy to work with Sony Ericsson, and are looking forward to offering our multiplayer service globally."

The Sony Ericsson mobile phones with the embedded Exit Games Neutron-based games are due to be released in the second quarter of 2005. The company will soon publish more information regarding distribution in Europe, Asia, and the USA.
