Solar Studios sees bright new future in Hollywood

Miami-based developer Solar Studios has announced plans to team up with Tricor Entertainment to create "Hollywood-style" action games and related film properties.

Together the two companies will develop and release videogames and films simultaneously, inviting Hollywood producers to collaborate and share resources with game designers.

The first Solar/Tricor project is an as yet unnamed Sci-Fi action-adventure property, said to feature "A-list talent and cutting-edge graphics." Solar's proprietary SubaZ physics engine is being used to create "cinema-quality gameplay" for titles on current and next-gen platforms.

Tricor Entertainment was founded by Howard Kazanjian, whose producing credits include Raiders of the Lost Ark and Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, and Craig Darian, who worked on films such as The Bridge of San Luis Rey and The Amati Girls.

"Howard and Craig are two of the most respected producers and entertainment executives in the film business," said Solar Studios' Matthew Green.

"They are bringing the type of top-notch producing, acting and writing talent normally only seen in major Hollywood productions to our cutting-edge games."

Howard Kazanjian added: "We are confident that the blend of creative imagination, technical innovation and business maturity between our two companies will make for a dynamic commercial combination."
